HISTORY AND POLITICAL. EDUCATION SAMPLE ITEM OF QUESTIONS PAPER 2 2024

This History and Political Education sample assessment resource is designed to help Senior Four learners strengthen their understanding of historical events, political developments and civic issues covered under the Ordinary Level curriculum. It provides learners with an opportunity to practise responding to examination-style questions while developing the ability to apply knowledge to different situations and contexts.

The resource is especially useful during revision because it encourages learners to go beyond memorising historical facts. Learners are given opportunities to interpret information, connect causes with effects, explain historical developments and demonstrate an understanding of political and social issues. Regular practice with such questions can improve learners' confidence and prepare them to approach examinations with greater awareness of what is required in different questions.

Teachers can use the sample items for classroom exercises, homework, revision lessons, continuous assessment and mock examination preparation. Individual questions may be selected for group discussions or used to introduce particular topics during lessons. Teachers can also use learners' responses to identify difficult areas and provide additional explanations, examples and remedial activities.

The resource can support the development of important skills such as critical thinking, interpretation, communication, comparison and historical reasoning. Learners are encouraged to read each question carefully, identify the specific task being requested and organise their answers logically. Where appropriate, they should support their responses with relevant examples and accurate historical information.

For independent learners, the material provides a useful self-assessment opportunity. A learner can attempt the questions under timed conditions, review the responses and identify topics that need further revision. Working with classmates can also encourage discussion and peer learning, especially when learners have different interpretations of historical events or political situations.

This material can be used alongside History and Political Education textbooks, class notes, teacher-prepared exercises and other revision resources available on the Sharebility Digital Library. It is suitable for both individual study and teacher-guided classroom learning.

Sharebility Digital Library provides this resource as part of its effort to make relevant educational materials more accessible to Ugandan teachers and learners. Through regular practice, learners can strengthen their historical knowledge, improve examination techniques and develop the confidence needed to respond effectively to assessment tasks.
