ENTEBBE JOINT EXAMINATION BUREAU Uganda Lower Secondary GEOGRAPHY Paper 1 7 August 2024.

This Geography Paper 1 was prepared under the Entebbe Joint Examination Bureau for the Uganda Lower Secondary Curriculum and scheduled for 7 August 2024. It provides learners with an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of geographical concepts while developing the skills needed to interpret information and respond appropriately to assessment tasks.

The examination can be used to evaluate how well learners understand the relationship between geographical processes, people and their environment. It provides a practical way of testing knowledge acquired through classroom lessons and encourages learners to apply concepts rather than relying entirely on memorised information.

Teachers can use this paper as part of school assessment, revision or preparation for future examinations. It may be administered under timed conditions to give learners experience in working independently, or selected questions can be incorporated into classroom activities. After the assessment, teachers can use learners' responses to identify areas that need reinforcement.

The resource is also valuable for individual revision. Learners can attempt the paper before referring to their notes, allowing them to assess their current level of understanding. Reviewing incorrect answers afterwards can help them identify specific topics that require further study and encourage more focused revision.

Geography learners need to develop the ability to interpret information, explain relationships, identify causes and effects and relate geographical knowledge to real-world situations. Practice with assessment questions can strengthen these abilities while improving learners' confidence in presenting clear and relevant responses.

The paper can also be used in group study. Learners can discuss challenging questions, compare their explanations and use maps, diagrams or other appropriate resources to support their understanding. Such collaborative activities can promote communication, critical thinking and deeper engagement with Geography.

This material is suitable for learners following the Uganda Lower Secondary Curriculum, Geography teachers, schools and revision programmes. It can complement textbooks, teacher notes, maps, fieldwork activities and other curriculum-related resources available through the Sharebility Digital Library.
