END OF YEAR EXAMINATIONS SENIOR FIVE Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education DIVINITY CHRISTIAN APPROACH TO SOCIAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES

This Senior Five End of Year examination resource focuses on Divinity, with particular attention to the Christian approach to social and ethical issues. It provides learners with an opportunity to examine how Christian teachings, values and principles can be applied when considering challenges that affect individuals, families, communities and society.

The material encourages learners to move beyond simple recall of religious knowledge and develop the ability to discuss issues thoughtfully. Questions in this area can require learners to interpret Christian teachings, explain ethical principles, consider different perspectives and relate biblical values to situations encountered in contemporary society.

For teachers, the examination can serve as a useful tool for evaluating learners' progress at the end of the academic year. It can also be incorporated into revision programmes, classroom discussions and group activities. Teachers may use challenging questions to encourage deeper reflection and help learners develop well-supported arguments based on relevant Christian teachings.

Learners can use the paper to strengthen their ability to organise ideas and communicate clearly in written responses. When answering questions, students should pay attention to the specific requirements of each task and support their arguments with relevant examples, biblical teachings and appropriate explanations. This approach can help them develop confidence in handling questions that involve moral reasoning and social responsibility.

The resource can also stimulate meaningful discussions about issues affecting society. Learners may consider how Christian principles such as love, justice, honesty, compassion, responsibility, forgiveness and respect for human dignity can influence individual choices and relationships. Such discussions can connect classroom learning with real-life experiences.

For revision purposes, students can first attempt the examination independently and then review areas where their understanding is incomplete. They can return to their textbooks, biblical references, class notes and other approved learning materials to strengthen their responses.

This examination is suitable for Senior Five learners, Divinity teachers, schools and study groups. It can be used alongside Divinity textbooks, Bible study materials, classroom notes and other educational resources available through the Sharebility Digital Library.
